2013 Exotic Wood Borer/Bark Beetle Survey Reference
The 2013 version of the Exotic Wood Borer/Bark Beetle (EWB/BB) Survey Reference is now available. All of the changes have already been communicated via the CAPS website forum. In addition, the EWB/BB Survey Reference has been divided into smaller sections: an Introduction and individual pest datasheets. The Introduction contains information on the background of the survey, survey planning, trapping instructions, sample submission, and appendices. The individual pest datasheets are posted as free-standing documents. Both the Introduction and datasheets can be found on the EWB/BB Survey Reference webpage on the CAPS Resource and Collaboration website. Here is a list of the changes that have been incorporated:
1) Hylurgops palliatus was removed as a survey target for the EWB/BB survey. It is present in four states. It has been added to the 2013 Additional Pests of Concern List.
2) Pityophthorus juglandis was removed as a survey target for the EWB/BB survey. It is widely distributed in the United States and is no longer a PPQ Program Pest. It has been added to the 2013 Additional Pests of Concern List.
3) Sirex noctilio was removed as a survey target for the EWB/BB survey. It is present in three states and is no longer a PPQ Program Pest. It has been added to the 2013 Additional Pests of Concern List.
4) Trap and lure names were updated on the EWB/BB Survey Card example.
