CAPS - Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey

Survey Manuals

The purpose of the Asian Defoliator Survey is to detect new infestations of targeted asian defoliator pest species at low population levels. PPQ has conducted Asian Gypsy Moth (AGM) surveys because AGM has a strong pathway to the United States and is a serious pest where it is established. Additional Asian defoliator species have been added to this survey because they follow similar pathways to AGM, have a similar biology, are capable of similar types of damage, and are capable of spreading within the United States. The Asian Defoliator Survey Reference provides standardized guidelines for conducting a Asian Defoliator detection survey in the United States and its territories.

The Asian Defoliator Survey Reference consists of an Introduction and individual pest datasheets. The individual pest datasheets are posted as free-standing documents (below).
